Rihanna: I am a serious businesswoman
Rihanna considers herself a businesswoman. The singer — who releases her new album, Loud, on November 16 — says the past 12 months have seen her evolve into a woman who is determined to take control of her life.
“A lot has — I won’t say changed, but a lot has evolved since [last year’s album] Rated R,” Rihanna told MTV.
“A lot of growing up, a lot of responsibility in terms of taking control of my business and stuff like that.
“It feels so good, because the closer you are to your business, the clearer you are about a lot of things.
“And that responsibility doesn’t feel like a burden. It feels like the right thing to do, and we just launched my new company Rihanna Entertainment, and I’m being managed by Roc Nation alongside of that. So I feel really good. It feels great to be home.”
Rihanna — who is currently dating baseball star Matt Kemp — recently revealed that she has realized the most important thing in life is to support her own decisions and not do things just to please other people.
“The most important thing is to be happy and true to yourself,” she said. ““I don’t want to look back at this in 30 years from now and say, ‘I did it all to make them happy and I didn’t enjoy.’
“I want to be able to say people loved me because of who I am. People have a lot more respect for you when you’re yourself and let them see your imperfections. That’s the big connection.”
