Julianne Moore bullied for having red hair

Julianne Moore used to get bullied for having red hair. The Oscar-winning actress — who is known for her fiery locks — admits she was continually “teased” by her schoolmates about her appearance, but she has grown to love being different over time.

“At school I did get teased about it,” she said. “You want dark or blonde hair like everybody else in the room. But I got to a place where I didn’t really think about it.”

The 49-year-old actress is married to Bart Freundlich and their two children Caleb, 12, and Liv, eight, take after their mother.

“I have a little girl who has dark auburn hair and a little boy who has light red hair and I think it looks beautiful,” she said.

Julianne was previously married to John Gould Rubin in 1986, but their relationship ended in divorce nine years later.

Although has remained quiet about the break-down of that relationship, she admits she spent most of her first marriage working on her career before finally deciding she needed to focus on herself.

“I spent a lot of my 20s concentrating on my profession and neglecting my personal life,” she said. “And you reach a point where you say to yourself, ‘Wait a minute. I want a life.’ “
