Penelope Cruz is letting her hormones get the better of her!

The actress — who’s expecting her first child with husband Javier Bardem — is apparently behaving like a “bear” on the set of new movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

“Penelope’s been an absolute bear, losing her temper with everyone over the slightest thing,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“To be fair, she always apologizes for her hissy fits and blames her mood swings on kicking cigarettes — but she’s totally furious because Javier broke his promise to show support by quitting with her. Now when he shows up on the set, she absolutely refuses to allow him to light up around her!”

Previous reports have claimed Pirates producers were forced to tweak Penelope’s role to accommodate her baby bump.

“The film company was worried about scheduling because of Penélope’s pregnancy but tweaked some of the scenes to make it work,” a source said.

Penelope has been notoriously private about her life, marrying 41-year-old Javier in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas in early July.

However, she has previously confirmed her desire to have children, although she confessed she would be happy to adopt.

“I’d love to have kids,” she said. “Maybe I’ll adopt about 20 children — that’s been my dream since I was a little girl. I want to have my own kids, but also adopt. For a while I’ve had the feeling that my life won’t be complete if I don’t adopt.

“I think I would be a perfect mother. I love babies.”

Reports in July claimed Penelope and Javier quietly tied the knot because they wanted to get married before their baby arrives next year.
