Bill Turnbull has prostate cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Turnbull has revealed he is suffering from prostate cancer.
The 62-year-old former BBC Breakfast presenter has admitted he was “shellshocked” to learn that he had contracted the disease, which doctors have told him has already spread to his ribs, hips, pelvis and leg.
Bill was diagnosed after a trip to the doctor concerning a change in his “pee pattern” and a year of dull pain, but he admits he wishes he had gone to the doctor sooner, as it may have reduced the chance of the cancer spreading.
He said: “The contract I thought I had with life has been shortened quite a bit. [I] wasn’t aware there was something going on inside me. Maybe if I’d got it earlier and stopped it at the prostate, I’d be in a much better state.”
The ‘Songs of Praise’ host revealed his diagnoses carries a life expectancy of 10 years, and he is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment to try and reduce the spread of the illness.
Recalling his conversation with the doctor, he said: “He said, ‘Ten years’, and then, crazily, I drove home and thought – did he say ten years? Five years? What did he say? It was all such a blur.”
Bill has found it hardest to explain the situation to his children, 29-year-old Henry, Will, 28, and Flora, 26 – all of whom he has with his wife of 30 years, Sarah.
He said: “It’s really hard to know what to say when you want to protect them.”
But despite the upsetting news, Bill is doing his best to think positive, and insists he has lead a “wonderful” life so far.
Speaking to the Radio Times, he said: “You have to be positive, don’t you? I know I’m not going to get cured and I’m realistic about the long-term prospects, but they’re not bad. Most importantly, I really do think I’ve had a wonderful life, with amazing experiences as a reporter and a presenter. And if it was all to end tomorrow, I couldn’t have any complaints. I’ve had a really marvellous time.”
