Kara DioGuardi ready to move on from American Idol
Kara DioGuardi has been desperate to leave American Idol for quite some time — according to a new report.
“She went to Fox two months ago and told them she didn’t want to do another season,” a source told E! News.
“She’s ready to move on. She did two years and thinks that’s enough.”
But Kara is still contractually obligated to do the show if Fox tells her to.
“It’s frustrating because she can’t even take any meetings…everyone wants to know what her schedule will be like, but she doesn’t know,” the source said.
“What happens if Fox tells her they still want her for next season?”
When Kara told Fox she wanted out, “They said they’d get back to her,” the source said.
Kara’s dad, Joe DioGuardi, recently revealed that the songwriter is getting the silent treatment from Fox about her rumored axing from the show.
“Would you believe she did not hear — and still has not heard — anything?” he said earlier this month.
“She read it the way you did and I did. Her disappointment is that that’s the way she’s being treated and she feels that’s not proper. I think they’re trying to create a lot of buzz … they’re trying to reformat the thing.
“But Kara has a very deep career in music … she’ll be fine. Would she want to do it another year? I think so … I think at some point [she] will confront them on that.”
