Michael J. Fox signs up to play lawyer on The Good Wife

Michael J. Fox (49) is returning to TV! The Hollywood actor — who after announcing his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 1998 has primarily focused on advocating for finding a cure for the degenerative disorder — has signed on for a role on the CBS drama The Good Wife.

The Back to the Future star will play a lawyer so “shrewd and cynical” he uses his neurological condition to gain favor for his client, the show’s producers Robert and Michelle King said.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that Michael has agreed to play this role,” the Kings said in a statement.

“His intelligence as an actor, combined with his incredible comic timing will really bring this smart, cynical lawyer to life.”

Fox’s last TV stint came last year when he played a drug-abusing paraplegic on Denis Leary’s hit drama series Rescue Me.

“It’s a measure of how screwed up they are that they would hire me to play a paralyzed guy,” he said at the time.

“I’m the opposite of a paralyzed guy. One of the reasons I don’t act that much now is that my first job is to act like I’m not dealing with the things I’m dealing with.”

The second season of The Good Wife premieres next month.
