Lindsay Lohan could be released from rehab this week
Lindsay Lohan, who was admitted to the UCLA Medical Center earlier this month as part of her sentence for breaching the terms of her 2007 probation order, may not have to complete the full duration of her 90-day court-ordered stint in the treatment facility.
Sources tell gossip website TMZ it is “very possible” that the 24-year-old star will be freed from rehab this week and allowed to continue treatment as an outpatient.
Although doctors were said to have originally thought Lindsay suffered from bipolar disorder, they now believe that her psychiatric problems are not so severe.
It has previously been claimed that Lindsay is addicted to prescription drug but medics are said to be less concerned about her use of legal medication than they initially were.
Although a court will have to approve the early release, it is believed that Judge Elden Fox — who recently replaced Judge Marsha Revel on the actress’ case — will go along with the doctors’ recommendations.
Lindsay’s father Michael Lohan — who has repeatedly claimed his daughter is addicted to prescription medications — has criticized speculation the Mean Girls star will be released from rehab early, insisting she will “relapse” if she doesn’t complete the full course of treatment.
“My prediction is that Lindsay will get out of rehab early, probably still be on some kind of prescription drugs, she’ll go right back to work and go back to hanging out with the same people and everything will once again fall apart. And this will only have been a band aid,” he said.
