Julia Roberts wants only epic movies

Julia Roberts will only work on “epic” movies while her children are young.

The star, who portrays Elizabeth Gilbert the movie about a woman who, after failing to fall pregnant, decides to travel the world, admits she will only accept film roles which are important enough to justify spending time away from her three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, five, and three-year-old Henry.

“I knew this project would be a huge undertaking, but I just feel that for me to leave home now that I’m a mother and go to work on something it really has to be epic. And this is epic!” Julia said of her latest project.

Julia admits she has honed her movie selection skills over the years, and instinctively knows whether it is something she wants to work on or not after just one glance of the script.

“It’s just a feeling I have the first time I read something. I just like it or I don’t. I turn the last page and I know whether I want to do it or not,” she said.

The 42-year-old actress was immediately drawn to Eat, Pray, Love because of the lead character’s courage and liberating behavior.

“It’s based on a beautiful book, a great multilayered story of a woman of a certain age going through problems a lot of people can relate to,” she said.

“What she does is difficult, though ultimately liberating, and I think we all wish that one day we would feel a certain way about ourselves and really do something about it.”
