Sylvester Stallone: ‘Modern films are too sophisticated’

Movie legend Sylvester Stallone has lashed out at Hollywood bosses for making films “too sophisticated”.

The actor, 63, believes special effects are boring audiences and has called for a return to the kind of movies he and celeb pal Arnold Schwarzenegger were making back in the Eighties.

Sly says his new film, The Expendables, will have action fans demanding more real action.

“This film is more physical than what else is out there,” says Stallone, who stars alongside Arnie, Mickey Rourke and Jason Satham among others in the upcoming film.

“There is not a lot of computer tricks. Films today have become too sophisticated. Audiences now just want to see something that’s real. That’s why all the men in this can do their own stunts. They are real people and they take some serious hits.”

Sly recently revealed he thinks his career is on “borrowed time”.

“I’m on borrowed time,” he said. “At this age I hear the ticking clock and it’s as loud as the gong on Big Ben.

“The ultimate ambition is to follow in Clint Eastwood’s footsteps and move on to directing films without me having to be in them.

“I’m on borrowed time and know my longevity will be predicated on being able to make that move.”
