Jaime King: My Generation is truthful

Jaime King has claimed that her new series My Generation is “truthful”. The show, which was picked up by ABC, is filmed in a mockumentary style and focuses on a group of high school students who graduate in 2000 and are reunited in 2010.

“It has what a lot of other shows don’t have, a lot of truth,” King told Entertainment Tonight. “And this sense where we blur the lines of what’s real and what’s not real.

“We mix media, we break the fourth wall – meaning we talk to the camera. We really reveal ourselves… That doesn’t happen on a lot of other shows. They do it a bit in The Office but not in the way that we use it. It really gives you a feeling that you have a peek into people’s lives.”

King also claimed that audiences will feel connected to the characters in the series.

“Each character on the show, there’s something to relate to as an audience member,” she said. “Because the comedy comes out of the human struggle that they’re all going through. We all have big dreams and we all have a vision of what we thought we were going to be in high school in ten years. And then you get to see ten years later what really happened to these people, and there’s something very intriguing about that.”
