Mary-Louise Parker “sad” about Perkins ‘Weeds’ exit
Mary-Louise Parker has admitted that she is “sad” that Elizabeth Perkins is leaving Weeds. Earlier this year, it emerged that Perkins, who played Celia, had decided to move on from the show to develop her own comedy series and star in upcoming movie Hop.
Other reports suggested that Perkins had left the show for creative reasons.
“It’s really sad,” Parker told Entertainment Weekly. “Really sad. And it’s sad for her.”
Parker also praised her former co-star, saying: “I just can’t think of a single negative thing to say about Elizabeth Perkins. I’m sure there are many because she’s a human being, but I worked with her for years and she was a wonderful person in the morning and she was a wonderful person when you worked an 18-hour day.
“She’s giving, she’s sweet, she’s hilarious – she’s freakishly wonderful. And I just loved her acting. I don’t think anybody could have done what she did. I would watch her all the time and go, ‘God, I would never have thought to do that’. I can’t really say enough good things about her.”
Weeds returns for its sixth season on August 16 on Showtime.
