OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Mays keeps being pestered to do ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actor has admitted he’s approached by ITV bosses when the new series of the creepy-crawly show rolls around every year because thy’re “desperate” for him to take part, but he’s adamant he’d never agree to head out to the jungle.
Speaking to You’re Welcome magazine, he said: “I have been constantly asked to be on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’. But it’s just not for me, I’m afraid.”
And it’s no wonder he has no intention of living in the Australian outback for three weeks because Daniel can’t stand shows ‘The Only Way is Essex’ and ‘Love Island’.
He said: “The growth of reality TV is there for all to see and it’s a worrying thing in many respects. It suggests that these people’s sole ambition is just to be famous and have nothing credible or substantial to back that fame up.”
And the 39-year-old star doesn’t like his children Mylo, 11, and Dixie, four, watching those type of reality TV shows because he thinks they set the wrong example and he wants to encourage his little ones to obtain a skill and work hard for success.
He explained: “I want my kids to aspire to be good at whatever it is in life they choose to do. I want them to work hard, obtain a skill from doing something, whether it’s playing an instrument or whatever.
“There’s nothing worse than being famous for just having fake tan or being with someone you shouldn’t. It’s mind-numbing, but at the same time it can be entertaining in many ways. I just worry that it doesn’t set a good example.
“And these people make a fortune, they earn millions, don’t they? There’s something sort of wrong about that, isn’t there?”
