Ryan Thomas has meltdown on Celebrity Island over cramp
OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas had a meltdown in last night’s (29.08.17) debut episode of ‘Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls’ as he thought a shark had taken a chunk out of his leg.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who was known for playing tough boy Jason Grimshaw in the long-running soap – became a laughing stock among viewers yesterday when he let out a horrific scream while paddling in the ocean, sparking fears he’d been attacked or stung by a jellyfish, only to find out he had cramp.
Despite his obvious discomfort, fans couldn’t resist poking fun at his melodramatic behaviour as one viewer wrote: “When you make a sound like a shark bit your leg off and it turned out to be cramp #CelebrityIsland.”
Another added: “Cramp!! I thought he was stung or anything worse…”
And another fan said: “Biggest overreaction to cramp I’ve ever seen. Thought it was a jelly fish #CelebrityIsland. (sic)”
But it wasn’t just fans who found his reaction hilarious as his younger brother Scott – who took part in ‘Love Island’ last year – said: “I thought @ryanjamesthomas had been taken down by a crocodile!!! But oh no it was….cramp (sic).”
Although only one episode has aired thus far, Ryan certainly doesn’t look cut out for jungle life as he had another run in with nature later on in the show when him and his co-stars went on the hunt for some water and he stumbled upon a bees’ nest.
The 33-year-old hunk accidentally disturbed the busy creatures and was attacked relentlessly until he was covered in stings on his arm and one on his chest.
His brother Adam – who came third in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ last year – joked: “Hahaha in stitches here!!! Cramp and bee stings all in one day @ryanjamesthomas off to a good start #CelebrityIsland (sic)”
Meanwhile, Ryan’s jungle stint wasn’t a complete waste of time as he met and fell in love with fellow competitor Lucy Mecklenburgh while taking part in the challenge.
