Guy Ritchie’s 3-D plans

Guy Ritchie wants to work on 3-D movies. The ‘Sherlock Holmes’ director – who is best known for his violent London gangster movies including ‘Snatch and ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ – admits he “loves” 3-D films and is keen to work on projects in the future using the innovative technology.

He said: “I love it, although it’s quite obvious whether a film would work in 3-D or not. Especially films which subsequently have been turned 3-D don’t always look good. When it comes to technological innovation I’m a geek anyway. I can remember going to a 3-D event in Los Angeles three or four years ago.

“They showed an explosion. The feeling of hell breaking loose on screen was incredible and terrifying at the same time. You could literally feel how intensely 3-D effects influence our perception of a scene, which is a positive aspect for a film. I will surely work with 3-D in the near future.”

Discussing his most recent work on ‘Sherlock Holmes’- which has so far taken $516 million at the box office worldwide – Ritchie revealed he may now work on a wider variety of genres.

The British filmmaker told Widescreen-Online.de: “‘Holmes’ definitely was a step into a new direction. We’ll have to see how this way develops throughout the years. I don’t have any certain plans. My work is a dynamic process giving me a direction to follow. I’m just adapting to it.”
