Josh Brolin’s Jonah Hex costume strife
Josh Brolin’s ‘Jonah Hex’ costume gave him an eye infection. The actor portrays the comic book bounty hunter – who is known for his droopy eye and mutilated jaw – in the new movie but filmmakers had to alter his appearance in order to make the look more comfortable for the star.
Josh explained: “We actually had the eye, which is in the comic book and I started to get an infection within the hour. I’m not that dedicated.”
As well as suffering an infection, Josh’s disguised appearance had other disadvantages as he was unable to eat on set once he was made up into character.
He added: “On a lot of movies you say, ‘I worked 14 hours a day,’ when really you only worked six and you’re in your trailer playing Nintendo the rest of the time. We actually worked 14, 16 hours a day, so I couldn’t eat that whole time.
“I would stuff myself in the morning and then just drink water throughout the whole day and it was 100 degrees. It was a pain.”
Despite his struggles, the actor would love to reprise the role again.
He said: “Would I do it again? Yeah. It’s like having a baby, you know? Now, I look at the end result and I go that’s pretty cool.”
‘Jonah Hex’ was released in the US last Friday (18.06.10).
