OHMYGOSSIP — Marcel Somerville has teased that Blazin’ Squad will release some new material.
The ‘Love Island’ finalist – who narrowly missed out on the £50,000 prize money to Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies earlier this week – has said there’s a “possibility” of the hip-hop band, who disbanded in 2009, dropping a new album later this year.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “There’s a possibility of a little thing happening.”
And, although the group have been talking about making a comeback, the 31-year-old hunk – who was known as Rocky B Plat’num during the band’s heyday – doesn’t know if he’ll rejoin them completely as he wants to see what comes off the back of ‘Love Island’.
He explained: “I haven’t agreed to anything yet but I probably will turn up. A few of the boys came to the airport this morning when we arrived back from Majorca.
“They were like, ‘Marce, there’s so much stuff on the table man’. I was like, ‘Alright – let me see this stuff first and we will go from there.’ ”
But it looks like Marcel could be persuaded as his girlfriend Gabby Allen – who he met in the villa – has admitted she can’t wait to see her beau perform with his band mates.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing him perform. It’s mad isn’t it? Meeting [Blazin’ Squad] at the airport was so weird. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so weird!’ ”
As well as his own singing career, Marcel has also offered to help his former co-stars Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes – who struck up a bromance in the love shack – release their own track after they were approached by numerous record labels.
Grime star Stormzy, who appeared in the villa via video link this month, has also asked to join the duo on the track after he became obsessed with ‘Love Island’ this year.
