Pierce Brosnan denies Deadpool 2 role
OHMYGOSSIP — Pierce Brosnan has dismissed rumours he’s set to star in ‘Deadpool 2’.
The 63-year-old actor first sparked speculation he would appear in the hotly anticipated superhero sequel after the franchise’s star Ryan Reynolds and ‘Wolverine’ actor Hugh Jackman each shared a picture on social media featuring themselves with the former James Bond.
Now, Pierce has denied being a part of the movie, but has said nothing “has come his way yet”, hinting that there’s still time for a role to be offered.
Speaking during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he said: “Not true. Nothing’s come my way yet. It’s completely made up. We were sitting waiting for a plane, the three of us, and the guy said, ‘Quick. Let’s get a photograph. Jump in the middle.’ Mr. Reynolds said, ‘Let’s do three wise monkeys,’ put it out there, and it went viral.”
Originally, fans speculated that Pierce would be taking on the role of Cable – a sometime friend and sometime foe to the wise-cracking anti-hero Wade Wilson – after it was confirmed the character would be appearing in the sequel.
Whilst Pierce has denied his involvement in the production, no actor has yet been confirmed for the role of Cable.
Meanwhile, director David Leitch – who will be taking over the reigns for the second instalment after Tim Miller left the franchise – has insisted he won’t be making radical changes to the “loveable” character.
He said: “I think you have to pay homage to this movie that’s so beloved. Everybody is anticipating it. And I think we have to find a way to make it distinctly our own, and we’re doing that. The DNA of Deadpool shouldn’t change. He’s such a lovable character, we’re going to carry that through.”
