Aaron Johnson for Spider-Man
Aaron Johnson is the latest actor being lined up for the lead role in ‘Spider-Man’.
The ‘Kick-Ass’ actor and ‘Terminator Salvation’ star Anton Yelchin are reportedly at the top of the shortlist to play Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego in the forthcoming reboot of the popular superhero franchise, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Other actors previously in the frame to take over the role from Tobey Maguire in the movie – which will be directed by Marc Webb – include ‘Billy Elliot’ star Jamie Bell, ‘Harry Potter’ actor Frank Dillane, and up-and-coming stars Alden Ehrenreich and Andrew Garfield.
Though Aaron is believed to be favourite for the role, he may face a scheduling clash as he is also in the frame to appear in another superhero movie, ‘X-Men Origins: First Class’.
Aaron has previously admitted he enjoyed starring in ‘Kick-Ass’ because it spoofed other superhero films.
He said: “I mean obviously its comic book and we wanna keep faithful to that and truthful to that. But it is enjoyable being this sort of anti-hero, who is not as good as he wants to be. It’s sort of a spoof on Spider-Man or Superman.
“There are so many moments in the film which reflect other superheroes. We’ve got lines from ‘Superman’, we’ve got my little spoof on ‘Spider-Man’. We flip and change those cliche moments and that’s what makes it really great.”
