Angelina Jolie to reunite with Brad on screen
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are being lined up to play lovers in a new film. The actress is the top choice to play legendary murderous Egyptian Queen Cleopatra, with producers said to be keen on her real-life partner – with who she raises six children – to portray Marc Anthony.
The film is being based on Stacey Schiff‘s book ‘Cleopatra: A Life’, and the author has indicated she would love to see the couple in the leading roles because they have similar chemistry to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who met and fell in love when they made a 1963 movie playing the historical figures.
She said: “I think Angelina would be perfect for it and I can see a possible Oscar in her future.
“For Marc Anthony? Brad Pitt. They are the Burton/Taylor of our day, reconciling and breaking up within a day in the tabloids.”
The film’s producer Scott Rudin also spoke of his desire to get the ‘Changeling’ actress in the lead role, telling the USA Today newspaper the film is being developed with her in mind as she has the “perfect look”.
Steven Soderbergh is to direct the film.
