Charlie Sheen’s bittersweet freedom
Charlie Sheen admits not being in jail feels “bittersweet”. The ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor was expected to be jailed on Monday (07.06.10) – when he had been due to appear in court on Monday (07.06.10) to answer charges relating to a domestic incident with wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day (25.012.09)- after agreeing a plea bargain but the hearing was postponed at the last minute following a hitch with the terms of the deal.
Now Charlie – who has 15-month-old sons Bob and Max with Brooke – has admitted he has mixed feelings about remaining a free man until he appears in court again next month.
He said: “It’s kind of a bittersweet situation… It’s nice to be home, but I also wouldn’t mind getting the thing done and getting it behind me.”
It had previously claimed that the 44-year-old star – who was expected to serve a 30-day sentence with work release in exchange for pleading guilty to third-degree misdemeanour assault – had requested Pitkin County Jail relaxed their rules on smoking for him, but he insists he would escalate his plans to quit the deadly habit once in prison.
He said: “I definitely will quit smoking, probably before my 45th birthday… I was making plans to cut down or follow the jail’s rules.”
