Weird Fish pays homage to Prince
OHMYGOSSIP — Weird Fish have paid homage to Prince as the anniversary of the iconic singer’s death approaches.
The ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker tragically passed away on April 21, 2016, and in honour of the late music legend – who died from an overdose at the age of 57 – the British lifestyle clothing brand has announced the new limited edition ‘Purple Crane’ top, which has been designed by artist Steve Bright.
It is the sixth in a series of shirts, which have been sold to raise support of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), an initiative which has raised more than £40,000 for the charity since January 2015.
Previous designs included the ‘Lord of the Wings,’ ‘Darth Wader,’ ‘Harrier Potter and the Deathly Sparrows,’ ‘Raiders of the Lost Lark’ and ‘Cranespotting.’
‘Purple Crane’ is on sale now for £20, with £5 from each sale being donated to the RSPB. The T-shirt is available in Barbary Red, Snow White and Washed Blue.
John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, said: “The success of our limited edition charity t-shirts relies on excellent design, great quality and of course a good pun. When we launched a competition last year to find the next artist to join our design team and come up with the next charity T-Shirt, we were so impressed with the three final designs that we ended up inviting all three artists to work with us.
“Purple Crane was one of these designs – with the anniversary of Prince’s death coming up, we think it is one his fans will really appreciate.”
‘Purple Crane’ is available nationwide from Weird Fish’s 13 retail stores or online, with stockists including Debenhams, Cotswold Outdoor, Haskins and Blacks Leisure. For more information, visit www.weirdfish.co.uk.
