Carrie Underwood wins at CMTs
Carrie Underwood was this year’s big winner at the Country Music Television (CMT) Music Awards. The ‘American Idol’ winner scooped two gongs at the ceremony held in Nashville, Tennessee, last night (09.06.10).
Carrie – who is planning to marry fiance Mike Fisher this summer – was awarded Performance of the Year for her version of ‘Temporary Home’ as well as Video of the Year for ‘Cowboy Casnova’.
The event was hosted by Kid Rock who opened the show with a medley of his famous hits and told the audience: “The party has just begun!”
Other winners included Lady Antebellum who picked up the prize for Group Video of the Year for their single ‘Need You Now’.
Band member Dave Haywood collected the gong and said: “Tonight’s all about the fans. Thank you fans!”
Nicole Kidman‘s husband Keith Urban was also a winner and thanked his wife of four years when he went on stage to collect his award. He said: Baby girl, I love you so much.”
