Emma Forbes quits BBC Radio 2
Emma Forbes (43) has quit BBC Radio 2 despite having eight months remaining on her contract. She was the regular co-host of comedian Alan Carr’s show, Going Out with Alan Carr, every Saturday evening on the station.
However, she is understood to have quit the show after a disagreement with BBC management about who should appear on tomorrow’s broadcast.
Emma Forbes had agreed to take a holiday, but she reportedly changed her mind and asked to appear on the show as normal. The programme’s producers had already drafted in Melanie Sykes as a stand-in presenter and they refused to change the plans.
A Radio 2 spokeswoman said: “Forbes has resigned as the co-host of Radio 2’s Going Out with Alan Carr. We wish Emma the best of luck for the future.”
Forbes was recruited to Radio 2 last April by the station’s controller Bob Shennan as part of a refresh of the presenter lineup.
The BBC has not indicated as yet who will be Forbes’ permanent replacement on Going Out with Alan Carr.
