OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Simpson relies on her daughter Maxwell for style tips.
The 36-year-old singer and songwriter, who has four-year-old Maxwell and three-year-old son Ace with her husband Eric Johnson, has admitted her oldest child has taught her “a lot” about clothes and is “better” at pairing garments together than she is.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her fashion muse, the blonde beauty said: “She [Maxwell] teaches me a lot about outfits, and she is better at putting outfits together than me. She’s a new inspiration.”
And the ‘Employee of the Month’ actress has revealed she has a “warehouse” filled with all of the outfits she wore in music videos, and the prom dresses she adorned when she was younger for when Maxwell grows up, although she is fearful her daughter won’t fit into her garments because she looks like she will be taller than her mother.
Jessica explained: “Maxwell is probably going to be taller than me in a year. She’s only four and she’s going to be taller than me.
“I’m a vintage buyer so I collect. I have all my prom dresses. All my music video outfits. I went to a lot of proms. That’s why we have a warehouse. I’m a keeper for my daughter.
“All I want to do is keep everything. And everybody is like, ‘Throw it out, throw it out.’ But I’m like, ‘No, it’s so important — this is the moment one guy gave me a rose.’ I have a lot of memories. I keep memories. The clothes are memories.
“As a mother, I know how much my daughter respects a great outfit.”
Meanwhile Jessica – who founded her eponymous fashion label The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2006 – thinks its “important” for her to make other people feel “good” when they wear her designs.
She explained: “I feel like it’s important as a woman to know that you can make someone else feel good in her own shoes, make somebody else feel good in her own clothing.”
