OHMYGOSSIP — A Team GB Olympic hockey player joked to Prince Harry she only used crutches to get his attention at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday night (18.10.16).
Susannah Townsend, who needs the walking aid after undergoing knee surgery last week, attended a royal reception for the medal-winning members of Britain’s Olympics and Paralympics squads and quipped that she wasn’t even injured but just wanted to stand out so he would speak to her.
An onlooker said: “Harry jokingly asked if her leg injury had occurred from a night celebrating in the Team GB parade the previous day, but Susannah just made him laugh by saying she wasn’t even injured and had just used the crutches to get his attention.”
The pair also shared a laugh when Harry misheard Susannah, thinking she said it was going to take 69 months, rather than six to nine, to recover from her injury.
The eyewitness added to Us Weekly magazine: “They were discussing her recovery time of six to nine months, but Harry widened his eyes and said he thought she said 69! It led to giggles… about that particular sex position.”
The 32-year-old royal was also overheard saying he will go to watch Susannah and the British hockey team play at the 2018 World Cup.
Harry chatted to several Olympians and Paralympians at the event, and reserved a special embrace for swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
He got down on one knee to give the Paralympian a hug before having a chat with the star.
She said afterwards: “It was the first time I’d met Harry and he gave me a hug. I must have mentioned to someone I was really looking forward to meeting him and he just hugged me.’
“It’s great to come to the Palace which is incredible and to be honoured by the Olympics and Paralympics – it’s amazing.”
