Kate Garraway gets covered in gunge at launch of Beano website
OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Good Morning Britain’ host Kate Garraway was covered in gunge by her daughter at the launch party for the new Beano website.
The 49-year-old TV star attended the fun-filled bash in London on Sunday (25.09.16) and made her kids Darcey and William’s day when agreed to step inside the gunge tank and get covered in yellow slime.
Speaking ahead of her gunging, she said: “My kids have put me up to this, they seem alarmingly keen that I should get covered in slimy yellow gunge which is a bit of a worry. I’m not so keen, very worried about what it’s going to do for my blowdry – probably not very good things! Bit I will give it a go anyway.”
Darcey pulled the cord to release the slime with a huge smile on her face and Kate shrieked as the goo landed on her head.
Afterwards, the presenter said: “Well I think it’s safe to say that was ‘proper gunged’. I kind of imagined that it might be a little like fake gunge, like I wouldn’t actually get covered, but no this is full on gunging. It was a lot colder, a lot nastier, a lot more slimey than I imagined. I’ve been properly Beano’d now!”
Kate was joined at the event by a host of other celebrities, including
Helen Lederer, Reece Shearsmith, Donna Air, Angela Griffith, Iain Lee and Amanda Lamb, which was held to celebrate the iconic British comic launching an all-new website Beano.com and app.
The new digital Beano experience is inspired by the comical and mischievous roots of the 78-year old comic book and its famous characters such as Dennis The Menace and Gnasher, Minnie the Minx and Roger the Dodger.
Beano’s new digital Ultimate Feed of Awesome – which is available for free – is jam-packed with original videos, along with the best bits of YouTube, games, pics, quizzes and interactive fun to help imaginations run riot and keep kids giggling for hours. It will be updated daily and is available on Apple and Android devices, YouTube and Popjame – an Instagram-style app for children.
Among the videos available are the Beano Originals, including brand new cartoons like The Invention of Football (by dinosaurs) and jokes delivered by the Little Squelchies.
Beano.com has also been designed to protect kids as there’s no messaging functionality, no collection of personal information without parental say so, and no sharing of marketing data with third parties.
The weekly Beano comic – published by DC Thomson – is still on sale with a new design as well as yearly Beano Annual, which is still the UK’s bestseller.
Boss of Beano Studios Emma Scott said: “We’ve spent the last three months blue sky thinking in a thought shower, touching base, singing from the same hymn sheet and pushing the envelope… until we realised that was boring nonsense, and we just needed really funny stuff!”
A new TV series ‘Dennis and Gnasher – Unleashed!’ is also coming soon to screens.
