OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Lowe will star in ‘Super Troopers 2’.
The 52-year-old actor has joined the cast of the comedy which has been financed through a crowd-funding campaign and will play an ex-hockey player-turned-mayor of a small town on the Quebec Canadian border.
Jay Chandrasekhar – who directed the 2001 original – is behind the camera the sequel that is already in production in Boston..
Last year Super Trooper fans were able to donate to the makers of the hit movie Broken Lizard and in 30 days they raked in $4.4 million through crowdfunding.
The sequel brings back the original five Vermont State Troopers – including Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske – who raised hell by pranking motorists on the highway and fought against government plans to shut them down.
Lowe starred in hit TV comedy ‘Parks and Recreation’ from 2009 until it ended last year and recently joined the CBS drama series ‘Code Black’.
Next on the big screen he’s set to star in ‘How To Be A Latin Lover’ alongside Salma Hayek, Kristen Bell, Michael Cera and Rob Riggle.
Rob isn’t afraid of being the butt of the joke, and earlier this month put himself up for a grilling on Comedy Central’s ‘Roast’.
