Shia LaBeouf slams Steven Spielberg
OHMYGOSSIP — Shia LaBeouf has blasted Steven Spielberg. The 30-year-old actor worked with the famous filmmaker on several DreamWorks projects, including ‘Disturbia’, ‘Transformers’ and ‘Eagle Eye’, as well as ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ for Paramount, but their collaborations didn’t live up to his expectations because the director is at a “different stage” in his career.
He said: “I grew up with this idea, if you got to Spielberg, that’s where it is.
“I’m not talking about fame, and I’m not talking about money.
“You get there, and you realise you’re not meeting the Spielberg you dream of. You’re meeting a different Spielberg, who is in a different stage in his career. He’s less a director than he is a f***ing company.”
The ‘American Honey’ star felt trapped and had no room to grow as an actor during that period of his career.
He explained to Variety: “Spielberg’s sets are very different.
“Everything has been so meticulously planned. You got to get this line out in 37 seconds. You do that for five years, you start to feel like not knowing what you’re doing for a living.”
Shia dislikes all the movies he worked on with Spielberg, except one.
He admitted: “I don’t like the movies that I made with Spielberg. The only movie that I liked that we made together was ‘Transformers’ one.”
And the outspoken star was left most disappointed by the critical reception for ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’, insisting it wasn’t a success, despite taking almost $800 million at the global box office.
He said: “I prepped for a year and a half. And then the movie comes out, and it’s your fault. That s**t hurt bad.”
