Matthew Newton denies trashing hotel room

Matthew Newton has denied claims that he recently trashed a Melbourne hotel room. The Underbelly star, who is dating Transformers actress Rachael Taylor, was reportedly involved in an “incident” at the Cullen Hotel earlier this month that resulted in him being ejected from the building.

Reports have claimed that Newton punched holes in the wall of the suite and smashed glass in the bathroom, causing more than $4,000 in damage.

Newton’s agent told The Sunday Telegraph: “He is not aware of any damage when he went into the room nor when he left the room. They haven’t been contacted by the hotel or billed for anything. Matt doesn’t know what they’re talking about. He and Rachael paid the incidentals on the way out on Rachael’s card and the room was fine when they went in and fine when they left.”

A manager at the hotel added: “We can confirm an incident took place and, no, police were not notified.”
