Adam Sandler to star alongside Jennifer Hudson for third Netflix film
OHMYGOSSIP – Adam Sandler will play the title lead in Netflix film ‘Sandy Wexler’ alongside Jennifer Hudson. The 49-year-old actor will team up with Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson for the 90’s inspired Netflix film, which follows the story of a talent manager who falls for a singer named Courtney Clarke, played by 34-year-old Hudson.
The film, which is set in Los Angeles, is Sandler’s third movie of four in his Netflix deal, sealed via his own Happy Madison Productions. His previous two productions for Netflix are ‘The Ridiculous Six’ and ‘The Do-Over’.
Meanwhile, Hudson scooped an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in ‘Dreamgirls’ in 2007 and has previously showed off her vocal prowess in ‘Chi-Raq’ and ‘The Three Stooges’.
Some critics say that with ‘Sandy Wexler’, it is Sandler’s chance to prove that – as with Salma Hayek in 2010 film ‘Grown Ups’ – he is an equal opportunity employer when it comes to casting his beautiful female leads.
Sandler came under fire after it was claimed actors’ faces were darkened in his film ‘The Ridiculous Six’ to look more like Native Americans, forcing him to explain.
At the time, Sandler said: “It was just a misunderstanding and once the movie is out will be cleared up.”
Filming is expected to start on August 2 and it is set to be released on Netflix in 2017.
