Kate Moss returns for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2016 campaign
OHMYGOSSIP – Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell return to be the face of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2016 campaign, which they launched in 1996, with Mario Testino behind the campaigns photography. The iconic supermodels have returned to support the charity in its 20th anniversary, which they helped launch in 1996, and have partnered with the legendary fashion photographer Mario Testino to support the Breast Cancer Now in its latest campaign that launched today (12.04.16).
Speaking about the charity and the reason behind her return to support the organisation, Naomi said: “I never could have expected back in 1996 that I would go on to experience first-hand the harrowing effect this disease can have on individuals, families and loved ones. For the last twenty years Fashion Targets Breast Cancer has united us all – scientists, models, designers, mothers, photographers, retailers – as a powerful force against the disease.
“With 2016’s campaign, I’m honoured to stand with people across the UK, united in our belief that, together, we will win this fight.”
Whilst Mario, renowned for his Towel Series photo shoot, said: “When I was asked to photograph Fashion Targets Breast Cancer’s original faces, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, to mark its 20th anniversary I couldn’t say no. Sadly, we have all been affected by cancer at some point in our lives and there is nothing worse than knowing that a woman close to your heart has breast cancer. That is why this campaign is so important.”
The six-week campaign has unleash an exclusive collection hand-picked from high street retailers such as Marks and Spencer, Topshop, Blow, Laura Ashley and more stores, which will see 30 per cent of donations go towards research into the disease and to help reach their target of reducing the deaths to breast cancer in 2050 to zero.
Meanwhile, Kate added: “It’s great to be returning to support Fashion Targets Breast Cancer on this very special anniversary year. Since its UK launch in 1996, when I first appeared in the campaign poster, Fashion Targets Breast Cancer has gone on to impact so many lives by funding vital research into this devastating disease.”
The campaign has previously received support from fellow models Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer, Georgia May Jagger, Twiggy, Abbey Clancy as well as the hitmaker Kylie Minogue and photographers Ellen von Unwerth, and Patrick Demarchelier.
