Chris Hemsworth: The Huntsman set was like a childcare centre

OHMYGOSSIP – Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron’s children played with prop weapons together on the The Huntsman: Winter’s War set. The Avengers actor brought his three kids along to be on set often as he shot the new fantasy movie, his co-star Charlize had her two adopted children Jackson and August with her, while Emily was looking after her first child Hazel, who was only 13-months-old at the time filming began.

The movie set in England ended up becoming like a “big creche” with the older kids running around and playing with the fake weapons, according to Chris.

“We had all our kids there on set most days, so it was kinda like a big creche, childcare centre sometimes,” he told the BBC. “(They were) chasing each other round with weapons which doesn’t tend to happen at most childcare centres…”

The experience certainly had an effect on his three-year-old daughter India Rose, who had trouble separating fact from fiction and believed she was living in a world where her father worked in a castle, like his Huntsman character Eric.

“My daughter went to school and she would tell people her dad works in a castle and fights the bad guys and there’s a queen and the princess, so it’s all pretty normal yet exciting for her, it’s a sort of strange interpretation,” he joked.

Chris also has twin boys Sasha and Tristan with his wife Elsa Pataky. They were around 12 months old when the shoot began.

Emily, who is currently pregnant with her second child, transforms her look to play Freya, The Ice Queen but her daughter was unfazed by her mum’s new white hair and pale skin.

“The thing that was strange was that she had no reaction whatsoever to me being in costume and full hair and make-up,” Emily told U.K. show This Morning. “It was quite moving in a way because I think you realise that children don’t really see all of that (the hair and make-up). They just pick up on your essence and that you’re still their mother.”

Charlize adopted Jackson in 2012, and August last year (15) and raises them as a single mother.

The film, which also stars Jessica Chastain, is released in the U.K. on Monday (04Apr16) and in the U.S. on 22 April (16).
