Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones join Emma Corrin and Maika Monroe in 100 Nights of Hero
OHMYGOSSIP — Richard E. Grant and Felicity Jones have signed on to star in ‘100 Nights of Hero’.
The ‘Saltburn’ star, 67 and the ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ actress, 41, will join Emma Corrin, Nicholas Galitzine and Maika Monroe in the upcoming adaptation of author Isabel Greenberg’s 2016 feminist fairy tale.
The film – which is being directed by Julia Jackman – will follow neglectful husband Jerome who makes a wager with his friend Manfred (Galitzine) that if he can seduce his wife Cherry (Monroe) within 100 nights, his pal can keep his castle.
However, what Jerome doesn’t know is that his wife is in love with her maid Hero, as played by Corrin.
Jackman – who will be making her writing debit in ‘100 Nights of Hero’ – said in a statement: “I’ve been in love with Isabel’s graphic novel since I read it in 2016, and it’s been a dream to adapt it into its own weird cinematic universe.
“I’m excited for people to see what we’ve done with Manfred, Cherry and Hero — even if you’ve read the book, you may not know the whole story just yet.”
While no release date has been announced yet, it was confirmed principal photography on the movie – which will also feature Charli XCX and Amir El-Masry – recently wrapped in England.
‘100 Nights of Hero’ will be produced by Grant S. Johnson (Project Infinity) alongside Erebus Pictures’ Helen Simmons and Stephanie Aspin, while Felicity Jones will serve as an executive producer through her production company Piecrust Pictures.
Johnson compared the talent working on the upcoming period fantasy to that of the team from HBO teen-drama show ‘Euphoria’, and teased the film was “modern in its sensibilities”.
He said: “Until 100 Nights of Hero, I hadn’t seen a project since ‘Euphoria’ that so taps into what feels like the next generation of filmmakers, talent, and material.
“While the film appears to be a period drama, it’s not, and is modern in its sensibilities. This is one of those rare projects that will captivate all four quadrants, and do so genuinely and earnestly.
“I am honoured to be working alongside these creatives to make a generation-defining film, while continuing my mission of supporting female-led films.”
Simmons and Aspin added: “We are over the moon to be bringing Isabel Greenberg’s beautiful graphic novel to life with the team of our dreams.
“Julia Jackman has crafted a truly mesmerizing world which is as playful as it is magical, and we can’t believe how lucky we are to be joined by our phenomenal cast. We know audiences are in for a real treat.”
