Blossoms are ready and waiting for Oasis support slot
OHMYGOSSIP — Blossoms want a support slot on the Oasis reunion tour.
The ‘Charlemagne’ band are extremely excited about Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher’s reunion as they have cited Oasis as one of the main influences on their own music.
No support acts have been confirmed for the sold-out UK and Ireland dates for the ‘Oasis Live ’25’ tour yet, but Blossoms are ready to “smash it” if they get the call.
When asked if the band could be offered a support slot by NME, frontman Tom Ogden said: “Nothing has been discussed, nothing has been asked; I don’t think they’ll sort it out until next year. It’s sold out. They don’t need to announce the supports.
“I’d like to think our name might be in the mix because why not? We’ve never shied away from saying how much they’ve influenced us. We went to watch them at Heaton Park when we were 16, and we kind of know them both. I’m not going to get my hopes up, though, because, at the end of the day, it’s up to them. If we get asked, the bags are packed, and we’d smash it.”
Blossoms have previously supported The Stone Roses, another legendary Manchester band that reformed, as well as playing their own mammoth headline concerts and Tom admits he’d have never have believed it if someone had told him when he was a teenager that his band would achieve these things.
He said: “Our mantra was instilled into us from Oasis. I grew up listening to them and seeing those songs being sung in the biggest stadiums. That’s what I wanted.
“Ten years on, to have done Wythenshawe, to have opened for The Stone Roses and to have your name brought up within the Oasis stuff, if you’d have told me that when I was 16, I’d have been like, ‘What?’. We saw them before we were even a band. I would have never believed you.”
Oasis frontman Liam, 52, has teased Richard Ashcroft, Blur and the Manic Street Preachers as being potential support acts.
Whilst online on X recently, the ‘Live Forever’ singer responded to fans’ questions about which artists could join him and brother Noel, 57, and he admitted that having former Verve frontman Richard at the stadium shows would be “would be BIBLICAL”.
Responding to one fan suggesting Blur singer Damon Albarn, 56, and his band should open for them, Liam said about Oasis’ former rivals: “I love blur and at some point we have to do n old dears tours. (sic)”
He then added: “Richard Ashcroft or Manic street preachers as support”, before adding shortly after “the manics it is”.
