Maya Jama reveals HUGE Love Island twist
OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama has revealed that the public will be able to decide who couples up on ‘Love Island’ for the first time.
The 28-year-old presenter is fronting the 10th series of the hit ITV2 reality dating show – which returns to screens on Monday June 5 – and in a world-first, the public will be able to see the lineup on social media on Monday (29.05.23) before voting for their favourites to couple up.
Speaking on ITV1’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “I’m so excited. It’s come around so fast because the winter one, we finished in March and it’s like ‘Oh my God, it’s here already’. I’m just excited to meet everyone and get stuck in I think, the bright colours are out already! The public has all the power, so for the first episode, you guys are gonna decide who couples up! You vote and we listen. So it’s a big decision to make as soon as you see them. You’ll see them. They get announced this morning and you can kind of make your notes if you want, start jotting down who you think should be together and then when it starts, off you go!”
The former ‘Celebrity Juice’ star – who replaced Laura Whitmore for the winter edition of the show earlier this year – went on to remain tight-lipped about the lineup but admitted that she “loves” seeing the drama on the game show unfold.
Asked if she could give any hints as to who may be in the villa, she said: “No, because that takes away all the fun, doesn’t it? First keep your Twitter or your browser open!”
“I suppose the final week is always the most romantic, isn’t it?
“They’re all in love and you’ve watched the whole journey so that’s always the cutest bit but I prefer the drama of it if I’m honest. Casa Amore is [always the most jaw-dropping] because you go off, you think you’re in a situation, you come back and you’re man or your woman is with someone else. It’s like a dream job for me and just being back here so quickly, I can’t believe it’s happening so fast. And it’s summer and I feel like it’s the original time where everybody gets on their sofas and gets pumped up for ‘Love Island’ season!”
Viewers can cast their free votes via the Love Island app.
Votes close at 9pm on Friday 2 June.
