OHMYGOSSIP – There are millions of bloggers in the world, but only a few of them can tell that their blog is successful business, that they earn with their blog. Scandinavian blogger and business woman Helena-Reet Ennet, who collaborates with numerous tourist offices, Embassies and high business leaders is an example, that bloggers can change the world and build their own media empires. Now Helena-Reet Ennet is named as the best travel and entertainment blogger in the world, Finnish media sites Iltamakasiini and Metropoli report.
– I’ve been running my entertainment & travel site OHMYGOSSIP for 9 years now. There’s nothing wrong with blogging as a hobby. In fact that’s as far as most people get. Becoming a professional blogger is very difficult. More difficult than most people think. Well anyone can start a blog and become a “blogger”. The barrier to entry is small, which has benefits and disadvantages. For example there are currently ten-thousands of personal travel blogs online — so standing out from the crowd is tough.
– However my definition is those who earn a good portion (or all) of their income from blogging are considered professionals. This list is much smaller. If I had to guess, I’d say less than 100 people in the world make decent money directly from their blogs. Many make money, get free stuff, but I talk about serios business – there are under 100 persons in the world who can say that they earn with blogging… earn well /collaborate well/have made their names. Fortunately I happen to be one of them after years of trial & error attempting to turn my passion for travel & entertainment into a business.
– I own a lot to social media, mainly to Twitter. But this is not coming easy as well. I follow people myself every day, I make new posts and connections every day… you can not stop… You have to be present all the time. If you want to be big in social media, it needs continuously/daily work. I am the girl who has the most followers in social media in Scandinavia today, but I tell you, that this is serious work. 5+ million followers are not coming just so.. with the finger flick. I build this business day-by-day, hour-by-hour… This is a serious work and it takes a lot of time!
