Rachel Weisz chooses traditions
OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Weisz doesn’t follow all Christmas traditions, but picks out the ones she likes best. The 45-year-old actress – who is married to Daniel Craig and has a nine-year-old son, Henry, with ex-fiance Darren Aronofsky – doesn’t fully embrace all aspects of the festive season as she grew up in a Jewish household, but she does abide by some customs typical of the Christian holiday period.
She said: “I grew up Jewish so when I was a kid, it was all about Hannukkah. But these days I have a Christmas tree and do some of the other stuff.
“I am not a very traditional person, so I just pick out the bits that I like. I like midnight mass and I like Christmas carols. I do a very good ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’.”
When it comes to receiving gifts, Rachel loves a handmade present.
She said: “I think the best present is something that has been made for you. My best friend gave me a cushion in the shape of a cow, which she did herself with needlepoint and it was the most beautiful gift.
“As far as I know, there was no symbolic meaning to the cow shape.”
