Whitney Port slams ‘gross’ fashion industry
OHMYGOSSIP — Whitney Port has slammed the “gross” snobbery in the fashion industry and claims she has had to work hard to shake off the “stigma” of her TV career.
Though ‘The City’ star is thankful her reality show background gave her the exposure to launch her design career, she admits it has been hard to shake off the “stigma” of her TV career, despite her Whitney Eve label now in its sixth year and going from strength to strength.
She said: “The TV show was amazing because I got great exposure from it and it gave me those ‘eyes’ that I wanted when I launched my collection but, at the same time, there was a stigma.
“The snobbery [in the industry] is kind of gross. I’m of the mind every designer, everyone in the industry, should support one another.”
The 30-year-old beauty also admits she thinks her TV shows made people think she was “boring”.
She told HELLO! magazine: “The biggest misconception is, I think, people looked at me like I was sort of boring.
“That’s a terrible word to say about someone. I was the nice girl that just played by the rules.
“I am nice but I don’t think I’m boring and I have stuff to say.”
