Joanna Lumley lands new ITV travel show Secret Cities

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Lumley has reportedly landed a new TV travel show.
The 75-year-old actress – who was recently spotted at the Moulin Rouge in Paris – is exploring locations around the world for upcoming series ‘Secret Cities’ after having some success with ‘Home Sweet Home – Travels In My Own Land’ and ‘Hidden Caribbean’.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Joanna is showing no signs of stopping following the pandemic and she is more determined than ever to get out there globe-trotting for her fans.
“ITV bosses know her programmes are a hit with viewers and wanted to hand her a show for the post-pandemic world as people start travelling again.
“Joanna will be inspiring people who want to get out there and experience a change of scene as the world slowly opens up again.”
It’s said the show is set hit the small screen early in 2022.
Meanwhile, the ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ star was in a race to finish filming ‘Home Sweet Home – Travels In My Own Land’ in early 2020 before COVID-19 hit the UK.
She previously said: “We were being chased, it was like surfing in the front of a wave because COVID was coming behind us all the time.
“We were so careful – we were tested, tested, tested and everywhere we went we followed all the regulations. But we were just in the nick of time – you couldn’t do it now.”
The ITV travel series saw Joanna travel across the UK to visit the Outer Hebrides in Scotland and meet up with ‘Derry Girls’ star Saoirse-Monica Jackson in Derry.
It comes after her plans to film in Egypt and Sri Lanka were cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic, and she instead decided to explore what the UK has to offer.
She added: “In Derry we wanted to film the historic murals, The Derry Girls and my friend Richard Moore, the ‘Derry Lama’, as the Dalai Lama calls him. It suddenly seemed that we could link these three stories together by art: the ravishing mural Saoirse-Monica showed me of the Derry Girls led us easily to Karl, whose team is creating such important new art work in this fabulous city.”
