Katie Holmes craves inspirational romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Hollywood actress Katie Holmes (35) has admitted she can’t imagine living in a world without romance. Katie, who was married to Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise from 2006 to 2012, gave an interestingly cryptic answer when she was questioned on a world devoid of romance.

She responded by saying: “I seek adventure. I want to be inspired.”

Katie is currently promoting her new film, ‘The Giver’, based on the children’s novel by American author, Lois Lowry, in which she plays the mother of a young boy living in a world where only a chosen few are exposed to true pain and pleasure.

It’s been speculated Katie accepted the role because her relationship with Tom – a Scientologist and father to her daughter Suri, eight – mirrors some of the themes of the film.

However, the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actress has suggested she knew little about the story before reading the script.

She told Loaded magazine: “I was not familiar with the book so I read it along with the script and I thought it was a really powerful story. I read for it and it was a really challenging role to play because it’s this utopian society, an alternative reality – there’s no emotion and no pain. There’s a great deal of security and safety but to play that as an actor is interesting because we like to emote, so that was its own challenge.”
