Damian Lewis likens OBE to being a prefect
OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Homeland’ star Damian Lewis has claimed receiving an OBE is like being made a school prefect.
The ‘Homeland’ star was handed the prestigious civilian award by Britain’s Duke of Cambridge during a ceremony staged at Buckingham Palace earlier today (26.11.14) and Damian, 43, acknowledges that the honour carries additional responsibilities.
He reflected: “I remember when I heard I was being awarded it, it was a little bit like, ‘now you’ve got to prove it.’
“It was a bit like being asked to be a prefect, now I have to be extremely responsible.”
The London-born actor also revealed that Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, are both avid watchers of ‘Homeland’.
He explained: “‘He said ‘Catherine and I are huge Homeland fans’.
“He said, ‘You appeared again the other night briefly, and we all got very excited,’ which is true but it was also on Sunday night which means he is absolutely up to date with the latest episode and I’m amazed they have time for that.”
Damian has previously won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody on the show.
