Edith Bowman says lockdown transformed her mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Edith Bowman admits the COVID-19 lockdown transformed her mental health.
The 47-year-old presenter has been open about her struggles in the past and she explained that the pandemic forced her to confront the issue.
Edith – who has sons Rudy, 13, and Spike, eight, with her husband Tom Smith – explained: “The thing that I learned that I’m taking forward, is that before lockdown I would beat myself up if I woke up and felt like I was having a bad day.
“And without your normal escapisms during lockdown, I had to deal with that. So, I learned to accept the bad days and just say, ‘Tomorrow will be a blank canvas’. I learned not to be so hard on myself about things like that.”
Edith also revealed that her respect for teachers has increased because of her own homeschooling experience.
She told MailOnline: “It was good days and bad days. The homeschooling thing – I have the utmost respect for teachers.
“There’s only so much you can do as a parent and the relationship that teachers have with kids is so different, so that’s very testing on your relationship as a parent, when you have to be their teacher in an academic sense.
“Tom and I definitely found our strengths and weaknesses. He did not wanna do any languages!”
Edith ultimately turned to music to help her through the lockdown.
She said: “Music was an amazing release for our kids: both in terms of being able to listen to music and also…
“Spike would get on his drums and beat the c**p out of them, or Rudy would sit at the piano and just twinkle away trying to learn the Up theme tune or whatever – it’s an amazing release, and they get that.
“They have the world of music at their fingertips now with Apple Music and Spotify. The fact that they can flick through those services at any moment and find a song that helps them in whatever way they need, is amazing.”
