Michelle MacLaren lined up to direct Wonder Woman
OHMYGOSSIP — Award-winning director Michelle MacLaren is in discussions with Warner Bros. to direct the studio’s first standalone ‘Wonder Woman’ movie, according to a report.
The Canadian producer is best known for her work on the popular drama series ‘Breaking Bad’, which has become a worldwide hit, and she’s now being lined up to helm the much-anticipated new film about the iconic superhero.
The award-winning director – who’s also worked on other popular shows, including ‘The Walking Dead’ and HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ – is thought to be the studio’s preferred choice, although the studio says it “is not married to the idea of a female director” for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Warner Bros. are also thought to have held discussions with Jennifer Kent, who directed ‘The Babadook’, and Lesli Linka Glatter of ‘Homeland’, but those talks are not thought to have related to ‘Wonder Woman’ specifically.
The character, played by Gal Gadot, will next appear on cinema screens in the eagerly-awaited ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, which will also feature Hollywood heavyweights like Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.
The film is set for release in 2016, while ‘Wonder Woman’ will be released on June 23, 2017.
