Diane von Furstenberg to launch a jewellery line

OHMYGOSSIP — Acclaimed fashion designer, Diane von Furstenberg has announced the launch of a new fine and costume jewellery line in partnership with Haskell Jewels CEO, Frank Fialkoff.

Diane von Furstenberg is to launch a jewellery line. The creator of the infamous wrap dress has announced the launch of a new fine and costume jewellery range in collaboration with Haskell Jewels.

Diane first created a jewellery range in the 1980s with Haskell Jewels CEO, Frank Fialkoff and now the pair have reunited after a 30 year-old hiatus.

Speaking to WWD, she explained: “We were in business 30 years ago and now we’re back.”

The collection will feature both fine and costume options, with the most expensive item costing as much as $100,000 and the lower cost pieces ranging between $68 and $628.

The 67-year-old designer revealed that she decided to include some more affordable pieces after being asked several times by fans of her work.

She said: “I am still doing fine jewellery but people ask me for costume jewellery. They want to have the $300 necklace.”

Diane also revealed that she treats her jewellery like a piece of fabric and hopes to make a “statement” with her new collection.

She shared: “I really love jewellery that makes noise and makes a statement. I also like fluidity in jewellery. It’s all treated like fabric.”

At the moment, the collection has no set release date, although it is scheduled to be available from early February 2015.

Frank noted that each piece of jewellery has had Diane’s personal touch, and added that she was vocal about what she did and did not want to see in the range.

He told WWD: “The key to this line is that Diane touched every piece of it. ‘I like it. I don’t like it, I want it, make it blue, make it green.’ And that’s what makes it work.”
