Britain’s Queen Elizabeth gets pay rise
OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Queen Elizabeth is set to receive a hefty pay rise after being down to her “last £1million.” The monarch will reportedly be handed a payout of £37.9 million between 2014 – 2015 to help her maintain her household and fund official engagements, after a report stated the lowly sum she has left, approximately £1 million, leaves her vulnerable to “unexpected costs.”
According to new official figures, Her Royal Highness will enjoy an inflation-busting 22 per cent pay rise over two years which sees her gain almost £6 million more than the £31 million she received between 2012 and 2013.
The figures released by the National Audit Office , mark the first time the organisation has been able to analyse every detail of the of the Queen’s spending as Head of State but the documents also highlights where she has made cut backs in order to save the pennies.
It seems the 87-year-old monarch has been feeling the pinch as she has also slashed costs for royal travel on engagements and housekeeping at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
The Queen’s funding from the UK government is a tax-free lump sum known as the Sovereign Grant and although her staff’s pay for those earning over £50,000 was frozen she paid out £19.5 million in wages to her 436 staff last year.
