Royal press secretary slams Diana movie
OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter has slammed ‘Diana’, a new film about the life of the late Princess of Wales, branding it a “waste of time and money”.
Dickie Arbiter – who worked closely with the British monarch, as well as the late princess and Prince Charles – feels he wasted two hours of his life by going to see a new biopic about the Princess of Wales, which stars Naomi Watts in the lead role.
He wrote on Twitter: “Done something very silly – been to see the Diana movie. Waste of time, waste of money & a waste of energy – 2 hours of my life, wasted (sic)”
Dickie was responsible for handling the media surrounding Diana’s funeral in 1997 after her death in a car crash in Paris in August that year.
He retired from his job at Buckingham Palace in 2000 and has since become a royal commentator and lecturer.
The former press secretary’s scathing comments echo similar reviews of the film by movie critics, who have complained it is too safe, tepid and uninspired.
‘Diana’ focuses on the supposed secret love story between Princess Diana and heart surgeon Hasnat Khan following her divorce from Charles.
