Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to move into Palace this week

OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to move into Kensington Palace this week with their son Prince George – who was born in July – after workers have completed the £1.5 million refurbishment.

The royal couple – who welcomed their son Prince George into the world in July – are preparing themselves for the big move from Catherine’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton’s home in Bucklebury to their £1.5 million refurbished property in London.

A source told the Express newspaper: “They can’t wait. They are so looking forward to getting the place how they want it and being settled.”

Within a matter of days the family will move into their four-storey, 20-room apartment, which is complete with five reception rooms, three main bedrooms, a number of dressing rooms and bathrooms, as well as a night and daytime nursery, staff bedrooms and “ancillary rooms”.

It is thought Queen Elizabeth allowed Catherine – who was previously known as Kate Middleton before she married William in 2011 – to choose antiques from the Royal Collection to furbish her new home.

The couple also took inspiration from a visit to Copenhagen in 2011 when they dined with Prince Frederik of Denmark and his wife Princess Mary.

A Palace insider said: “Mary showed them around their apartment at the Amelienborg Palace and they loved the way they had combined their collection of modern art with antique furniture

“Kate was truly inspired and wants to use some similar ideas in some of the rooms at Kensington Palace.”
