Picture-perfect style: Princess Diana 1982 and Kate 2013 with similar polka-dot dresses
OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cambridge appears to have paid homage to her late mother-in-law today as she carried her tiny prince in her arms for their first public appearance since his birth. The new mum looked picture-perfect when she stepped out of London’s St Mary’s Hospital in the light blue polka-dot dress with her son and her husband Prince William.
The bespoke dress was reminiscent of the green polka dot dress Princess Diana wore in June 1982, when she displayed a newborn Prince William to the world less than 24 hours after giving birth in the same hospital.
Catherine’s cornflower crepe de chine dress was custom made by British designer Jenny Packham. She finished off the look with white wedges.
Catherine wore a Packham design to the Queen’s 60th anniversary celebration in January, and has turned to the designer for a number of key events.
The Duchess’ hair looked flawless and had been blow-dried into soft curls. Her hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker had reportedly been seen arriving at the hospital earlier in the day.
The beaming couple looked at ease as they showed off their first born to cheering crowds. They both took turns to hold their son, who was wrapped tightly in a white shawl with only the top of his head visible.
