Stella McCartney named DFT patron
OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney is the new patron of Designer for Tomorrow (DFT), a contest which is held as part of Berlin Fashion Week.
Stella McCartney is the new patron of Designer for Tomorrow (DFT). The British designer succeeds Marc Jacobs in taking on the role, with him having held the position as ambassador for the German contest for the past two years.
Stella told Sportswear International: “I’m looking forward to supporting the young fashion talents and I’m curious about all the applications and the potential that we can expect.”
The Designer For Tomorrow contest, which is sponsored by German retailer Peek & Cloppenburg, has been held every year during Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week since 2009.
In her role, Stella will help review applications submitted from new designers throughout Europe before shortlisting a top 10.
She and the rest of the jury will then view the finalists’ collections next month and the winner will be announced during Berlin Fashion Week in July.
Peek & Cloppenburg are thrilled to have Stella on board.
John Cloppenburg, member of the management of Peek & Cloppenburg KG, Düsseldorf, said: “With Stella McCartney we have won a great supporter. Her perspective and her long-standing experience will further strengthen the young designers, the supporting programme and its diversity.”
