Rebecca Hall’s intimidation over Iron Man 3 role
OHMYGOSSIP — Rebecca Hall was intimidated by being offered a role in ‘Iron Man 3’.
Rebecca Hall found being offered a role in ‘Iron Man 3’ “intimidating”. The actress – who stars as botanist Dr. Maya Hansen in the forthcoming Marvel sequel – admits being on the set of the action blockbuster for the first time alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow was as daunting as a first day at school.
She said: “Obviously it would be transparently disingenuous to say that it wasn’t intimidating. They’ve made two of them already, everybody knows everyone.
“It’s a pretty scary moment to walk into that set and go, ‘Hello, I’m the new kind on the block, please be nice to me’.”
The 30-year-old star insists she never has a deliberate career path, but took on other work while waiting to hear if she had landed the ‘Iron Man 3’ role as she felt it important to keep busy.
She added to Stella magazine: “I basically kept myself busy with other stuff, then I got a call saying, ‘It’s yours’. [The lesson is] … If you light a cigarette the bus will come.
“I am aware that this sounds frightfully grand. But I’ve never really structured my career around stepping-stones in order to get some elusive big-picture deal. That’s not even been my goal.”
